Morning After Pill

The morning after pills is emergency contraception that can be taken within 72 hours (Levonelle) or 120 hours (EllaOne) of intercourse.  These pills reduce the chance of fertilised eggs implanting in the womb. The morning after pills is to be used for occasional emergency use only and should be taken after intercourse, not before.

When do I take the morning after pills?

• After intercourse where no other contraception was used

• After intercourse when a condom has split, torn, come off

• After intercourse when a diaphragm was displaced

• After withdrawal has failed

(Levonelle) or 120 hours (EllaOne)
