Salbutamol Inhaler

Salbutamol is used to relieve the symptoms of asthma including wheezing, coughing and the feeling of breathlessness.  During an asthma attack, the air passages into the lungs become narrow making it difficult to breathe.  Salbutamol relaxes the muscles of the airways and makes it easier for the person to breathe normally.

Salbutamol usually comes in an inhaler but may also be given as tablets, capsules or syrup. It can also be given using a nebuliser for those with severe asthma.
