Morning After Pills in Streatham
Hormonal Contraceptive Pill To Avoid Pregnancy
The morning-after pill, also referred to as emergency contraception, can be taken after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. It’s best to take the pill as soon as possible after intercourse. If you need this medication, one of our pharmacists will conduct a brief assessment by having you fill out a short questionnaire to determine if the treatment is appropriate for you.
The Pill
In the UK, there are two drugs available over the counter that act as Emergency Hormonal Contraceptives (EHC): Levonelle One-step and EllaOne. Levonelle One-step should be taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy, while EllaOne is effective if taken within 120 hours after unprotected intercourse.
How Does It Work?
Initial Consultation
During your consultation, the pharmacist will guide you in choosing the appropriate contraceptive pill for your needs. It's important to note that the morning-after pill is not meant for regular use; it's specifically designed for emergency situations when another form of contraception wasn't used or didn't work effectively.
Short Questionnaire
When requiring a morning after pill, you'll be required to fill out a short questionnaire which will then be reviewed by our pharmacist.
Approve & Supply
Once our pharmacist is happy with the questionnaire, they'll approve and supply the pill to you. Alternatively, if they feel otherwise, then they will refer you to a different service.
